ENABLING Y/OUR TOMORROW: Greenland Glacier Water
From Depleting to Regenerating Environmental & Social Eco-Systems.
Tamatta works closely together with the greenland government
and with greenland’s indigenous people.
We actively ask for wisdom & support of other indigenous people and we especially consult our elder brothers, the Mamos of the Sierra Nevada.
“In greenland OUR word for water is “imeq”. It means “life giving source to all”
IMEQ - SUNIK TAMANIK UUMMARTITTISOQ

CONSULTING OUR ELDER BROTHERS: THE MAMOS FROM THE SIERRA NEVADA
Learning to live in harmony with Mother Earth and Nature. Respecting reciprocity. For too long we have behaved as if we can simply take what we want or feel we need from nature.
The Tairona people, our elder Brothers from the Sierra Nevada in Colombia are again teaching us that we need to be in harmony with Nature. They are considered ‘the keepers of the world”.
Our first question to the Mamos has been: are we allowed to ship Greenland’s melting glacier water at all? Or should we simply respect that the water is leaving?
Since that moment the Mamos have been supporting our endeavours with their insights, their wisdom and their ceremonies (their so-called ‘pagamentos’)
Read more about the Mamos of the Kogi, Arhuaco and Wiwa people and don’t forget to look at the films “From the Heart of the World: The Elder Brother's Warning” and “Aluna” -see alunathemovie.com for more information about the Mamos and the film.
Tamatta Foundation is very grateful for the support of the Mamos and in return proudly supports the work of the Mamos of Santa Marta.

Greenland's ICE SHEET IS MELTING DRAMATICALLY
Greenland's Ice Cap is melting at incredible speed: 750 billion litres of water every 24 hours
Causing:
Sea-levels to rise by 5-7 meters
Disruption of the Jet Stream (Thermohaline Ocean Circulation)
Methane release from seas and soils in permafrost regions
These developments will further increase:
Climate crises
Refugee problems Regional & Global Water & Food Conflicts What if…
Melting ice-cAP WATER CAN STOP WAR FOR WATER and mitigate DRAMATIC WATER SCARCITY?A Global WATER crisis IS HAPPENING UNDER OUR VERY EYES
The reasons for our global climate crisis are manifold, but heavily linked to water.
Access to water has become a survival issue for billions of people in the world:
About 2.8 billion people (36% of the world's population) today live in areas of direct water stress or water scarcity.
Although this may apply especially in South Asia and Africa, these problems are a much broader phenomenon.
Many Megacities all over the world face dramatic and acute water scarcity.
What if…
glacier water slows down global warming, Solves Global Water Scarcity & Prevents Water Crises for future generations?GLOBAL WARMING & WATER SCARCITY ALSO CAUSE LAND DEGRADATION
Due to excessive agricultural use and deforestation, the planet faces a massive challenge.
With reforestation, rewilding and long term sustainable agricultural practices, CO2 emissions can be reduced and retained.
What if…
ACCESS to WATER becomes A commodity and enables Healthy Ecosystems and Sustainable farming?simultaneously Social crises are taking place
All over the world indigenous people are threatened in their existence.
Due to western cultural dominance and also due to climate change impact.
It has led to depression, isolation and alcoholism, and other problems to sustain traditional ways of living.
What if…
GLACIER WATER CREATES JOBS for THE FUTURE, WHILE AT THE SAME time ENABLING CONSERVATION OF TRADITIONAL CULTURE?impact matters
Tamatta:
This is who we areAt the Tamatta Foundation, we are acutely aware of the pressing challenges facing our planet and its inhabitants.
Our mission was born from the alarming reality of the Greenland ice sheet melting at an astonishing rate, exceeding 10 million liters per second.
This results in a staggering 750 billion liters of meltwater every day, a resource that cannot be ignored.
In a world where nearly 2.5 billion people reside in regions and large cities experiencing water stress or scarcity, we recognize that the root cause is not solely structural water scarcity but rather irresponsible water usage, the complete disregard for natural water cycles, and the conscious and unconscious pollution of water. Ecosystems around the globe are being destroyed or threatened as a result.
The prevailing Western practices of extracting raw materials and water from the Earth are causing increasing harm to ecological and social ecosystems worldwide.
This poses a significant threat not only to nature in all its forms but also to indigenous populations, jeopardizing their survival and the preservation of their cultures.
The current water scarcity, resulting from mismanagement, endangers the concept of water as an "affordable common" and fosters dangerous speculation about water as a commodity.
A profound shift in awareness regarding water and its responsible use is imperative to halt and reverse the ongoing destruction and degradation of the Earth's social and ecological ecosystems.
The escalating water shortage poses a direct threat to long-term global peace.
TAMATTA is guided by four SDG's
Tamatta’s principal aim is to put Greenland's melting glacier water to good use
Regenerative
We work to stop degradation of ecosystems and to restore & regenerate
Bulk water
We provide Greenland high quality drinking water in bulk at a social price to areas and cities in the world, where there is increasing water shortage, or water of very poor quality, or water at unaffordable prices.
Water scarcity
We provide Greenland high quality drinking water in bulk at a social price to create and facilitate smart agricultural and reforestation projects to generate domestic water, food and work in areas now heavily impacted by water scarcity.
Transformation from Unconscious Systems to conscious Systems.Tamatta focus on Sustainable Society and Sustainable Environment. We want to enhance the future of life and replace the Social & Environmental Crisis.
From facilitated commodity access to local storage, distribution & regeneration leveraged through water logistics, storage, and distribution for purpose.
Focus on Transformation of 99% of existing systems of today's water use
Recognition of today's lock-ins and false assumptions about water and water use: No water scarcity, but wrong and wasteful use of water
Radical circular redesign of all water systems is called for
Pause-Button approach: Only temporarily adding more water to local systems, through strategic water buffers & stocks
TAMATTA's Purpose: Explicitly supporting necessary systemic change in water use and the resulting regeneration of ecosystems
Ambitions
1
Avoid waste of highest quality melting water and sea level rise
2
Provide clean water: Deliver unlimited high quality water at a social price in shipments of 25 million up to 200 million liters per month
3
Improve impact areas and climate: Bring down emissions, including CO2, including world shipping fleet with 30-50% well before 2030
4
Change life: Facilitate self-support with reforestation and smart agriculture projects to ultimately generate domestic water, food and employment in impact areas
5
Support peace: White label water as commodity, will provide a basis for peace in a substantial part of the world
6
Reduction of global warming: Water generated reforestation will lead to substantial reductions in CO2 emissions
7
A better world: Natural resource water used to provide a safer and greener world with enough food and education for a healthy social life for everyone
8
Water is a human right and a source of life
Ensuring availability of affordable water and promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development
Maximize value of waterIn cooperation with Greenland, transporting water in high volumes from Greenland to areas with shortages in the most efficient and clean way possible with help of AI.
We foresee 2 main types of use:Bulk drinking water: provide affordable bulk water to areas with water shortages, with poor water quality, and/or unaffordable prices
Bottled water: sale of contracted volumes with specific counter-parties in order to maximise value for good
Maximize impact of waterIn cooperation with Greenland, Tamatta Water Foundation provides water from Greenland in the spirit of the United Nations’ SDG 6 Goal “ ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”.
We focus on 3 main goals: Provide bulk water for regeneration of land and sustainable agriculture
Contribute to more stable communities and eco-systems regionally, in a transparent and measurable way
In cooperation with multilateral organisations, NGO's and local communities initiate, develop and execute specific projects for regeneration
Run by a Trustworthy organisation to put Greenland’s Glacier Water to good useTamatta cooperation as bridge between finance and impact with a Water License usage permission at its core.
Code of conduct & articles of association cooperation define different types of membership, what the members rights are, how to deal with succession, and how to implement a system with different voting powers.
Articles of association: State the Mission of the foundation. Articles steer the decision making process as executive and supervisory board safeguard the articles
Radical transparency & Innovative governanceTamatta Foundation Executive Board is in the lead with A-type membership, articles of association/bylaw and a rotating Chairman to ensure transparency and neutrality
